X-Men

A brief couple of words on the new X-Men movie:

It was crummy. It made no sense. It killed off characters and extras alike with a casualness I have rarely witnessed (I don’t go to see particularly many of these kinds of movies). And worst of all, it had no point.

I can handle wanton, marginally-artistically staged screen violence if it’s at least waged in the name of something I can get behind. But as far as I can tell, the only motivation for the big climactic battle at the end of this sad little plot was avenging Ian McKellan for having been a royal pain in the ass in the first two movies.

Not good enough.

And considering how cool the second movie was, all in all, this whole shoddy enterprise was really a terrible shame.
